I feel so passionately that we need to be having a new conversation about mental health in this country (and probably in other countries, too!) As glad as I am that the idea that depression, anxiety, and other mental illnesses are the result of “chemical imbalances” rather than a defect of character, I think it’s time for a broader recognition that there are more ways to change the balance of your brain (and body) chemistry than by taking a drug.
Today I’ll be talking about some of the natural strategies that belong in every mental health toolkit, and ranting a little bit about the importance of changing this conversation—-even if we have to do it one person at a time.
