Animals can play a powerful role in a healing quest.
Today’s episode will explore three primary ways to engage your relationship with animals in a deeply healing and satisfying way.
The relationship between humans and non-human animals is profound.
It stretches from the annals of prehistory to the intimate details of modern childhood; the very first art our ancestors made depicted animals, and animals are often the stars & subjects of the stories we tell our children to teach them everything from how to count to how to treat others.
It’s no surprise, then, that animals can play such a large role in healing of all kinds. Many of us have heard about the benefits of petting a dog or cat (blood pressure reduction, slowed heart rate, elevated mood…) and have seen stories about therapy animals for conditions ranging from autism to PTSD. Service animals also play a huge role in supporting people with disabilities. But what about those of us who don’t have a specific challenge, access to working with a therapy animal, or the desire to have a companion animal of our own?
There are still ways to engage deeply and meaningfully with animals as part of your process of growth & healing. Today’s episode will go beyond the basics—and I’ll also be sharing the story of the powerful healing journey that I’ve been on with my dog, Charlotte.
